Stigma still haunts parents when we talk about cannabis use, especially for us mothers who admit using cannabis. Moms are judged for literally everything already, it's frustrating to also be judged for the medicine that supports us being calmer and better parents.
As a mother of 3, I can more easily set aside my workday to-do list, along with whatever challenges and frustrations I've experienced that day, and get into the kind of headspace where I can patiently listen to stories and participate more in what they are doing and saying. Verses feeling a rush to finish the day and get them to sleep.
Cannabis has helped to support a calm with my children that I didn’t have before. I’m not looking to get “blazing high”. It's just like having a glass of wine for me, but with less side affects.
For me, cannabis takes the edge off, and the stress of life feels a little less hard.
We should be able to discuss our own experiences as a way to share and compare with other women, so we can learn from each other. Open dialogue is important and women should feel comfortable being open about both the joys and challenges that come with motherhood, without worrying they’ll be judged.
We all judge from time to time, it’s natural as it’s human to compare ourselves to others, and decide this is good and this is bad. It’s when we take it to the shaming place that’s so damaging to moms.
Cannabis has been used for thousands of years in ceremonies and medicines, it’s only been this past century that it’s been demonized. I think we make change with this by speaking up and sharing your positive experiences about cannabis with other people, especially with other mommas.
Let's talk about how cannabis has supported you, what your experience has been, and why you may or may not agree - We'd love to hear your story, please message us on Instagram and let's start a conversation...
